AP Investigation Reveals Governor Didn't Pay for His Pension

An open records request for pay stubs proves it, the news agency says.

Governor Scott Walker did not pay for his state-funded pension as promised during his campaign, the Associated Press says.

According to an open records request from the news agency, pay stubs from both Walker and Lietenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch reveal they broke their campaign promises.

In a story running on several news sites, including ABC News, Cullen Werwie, Walker's spokesperson, said Walker started paying in August when the law started requiring that public employees and elected officials pay more.

But the story points out that according to his promise, Walker should have been paying in February and March when the public employee union drama was playing out in Madison. Werwie conceded the point.

Of course state Democrats are voicing their opinions.

"You're asking people to do what you won't do," Democratic Party spokesman Graeme Zielinski said in the story. "It shows you this is a person whose priorities are warped."
