After a week with elections, it's only fitting that our top story is about election results.

In a week where residents cast ballots in village elections, it's only fitting our top stories of the week include those about election results.

Mount Pleasant voters chose Mark Gleason for village president over Trustee Karen Albeck. Residents also cast more ballots for newcomer David DeGroot than incumbents Sonny Havn and John Hewitt, and all three will take their oaths of office sometime this week.

The sad story of a woman's death in a Mount Pleasant condo complex also caught readers' attention. Rescue personnel were called after another resident's carbon monoxide alarm sounded late Thursday night.

Steve Jansen was re-elected Sturtevant village president Tuesday. All incumbents - John Johnson, Chris Larsen and Chris Wright - were also re-elected.

After a car full of teenagers was pulled over by Mount Pleasant police, one of the teenagers is facing drug charges. Officers say the young man had a plastic baggie of Xanax on his lap when they asked him to step out of the car.

And finally, trustees in Mount Pleasant voted that the ethics violations matter involving Trustee Sonny Havn be closed. After Racine Police Chief Art Howell found no criminal misbehavior, the board met in closed session and voted unanimously to consider the matter closed.
