Woman Accused of Trying to Steal From Walmart

Suspect faces felony charge as well after police say she pushed a security guard.

A 22-year-old Racine Woman is accused of stealing from Walmart, then pushing a security officer trying to keep her from leaving the store.

Kaneesha L. Briggs was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of retail theft, one count of obstructing an officer and one count of robbery with use of force. If convicted, she faces up to 11 1/2 years in prison and $70,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, at 2:55 p.m. Sept. 15, a security officer saw Briggs take $50 worth of items and conceal them, then go talk with friends before trying to leaving the store without paying.

As Briggs left the store she was confronted by a security officer who tried to stop her, but she pushed back several times before being detained.

When Mount Pleasant police officers arrived at the store, Briggs refused to cooperate and she was then taken to the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

Briggs is free on a $3,000 signature bond while awaiting trial.
