Two Men In Custody Following Armed Bank Robbery

Caledonia and Racine police respond to an armed bank robbery at TCF Bank in Racine Monday afternoon.

Two suspects are in custody following a robbery at TCF Bank, 3935 Douglas Ave., at 2:45 p.m. Monday.

Racine Police arrested a 39-year-old man and a 28-year-old man; both men face charges of armed robbery, operating a vehicle without the owner's consent, and fleeing and eluding a police officer.

According to a press release by the Racine Police Department and scanner reports, one of the men brandished a gun and demanded money from the bank teller. The employee complied and the two men left the bank.

After the armed robbery, the suspects drove away in a gold Grand Am, which was found on South Creek Road. The car was allegedly stolen from a Caledonia residence in the 4100 block of Erie St. The two suspects fled the area on foot. One of the suspects was apprehended on Green Street near Jerstead School

The other suspect was seen running near Three Mile Road and LaSalle. He was later apprehended by a woman driving a silver Grand Am on Three Mile Road, just east of Erie Street, who picked him up, according to reports on the police scanner.

The woman driving the car was not arrested or taken into police custody. She was released from the scene.

No one was injured during the chase. Police will be releasing more information soon.

What the article failed to mention was, the woman driving the silver Grand Am who picked him up, feared for her and her childs saftey becaused the robbery suspect was still armed and forced her to let him inside.

I wondered if something like that was the case.

So then he wasn't apprehended by her.
