Sturtevant Man Released from Jail Goes Back After Violating the Restraining Order Against Him

Glenn Purlee was in jail for an unrelated offense, but after he was released, police say he threatened to kill his estranged wife.

Sturtevant resident Glenn Purlee's release from jail was a short-lived reprieve.

Police say that on Jan. 23, Purlee violated a domestic abuse restraining order against him, which also violated the terms of his release. He has since been charged with a misdemeanor for knowingly violating a domestic abuse order and with a Class H felony for failing to comply with the terms of his bond.

If convicted of the misdemeanor, Purlee faces up to a $1,000 fine and up to nine months in jail. The felony carries up to a $10,000 fine and six years in jail.

According to the criminal complaint, Purlee phoned his estranged wife and told her, "I have nothing to lose so I'm going to shoot you in the head." He also phoned a minor child and said, "I'm going to come over there and shoot your mom in the head."

Both the wife and the child acknowledged to officers that Purlee contacted them repeatedly by cell phone. The restraining order against Purlee is in affect until March 2013.
