Police: Sibling Squabble Turns Abusive, Leads to Charges

Mount Pleasant police say a sibling squabble turned abusive and landed a man in custody.

Mount Pleasant police say a 22-year-old man was arrested after admitting that he beat up his sister over the weekend.

Cassell Wallace was charged Monday in Racine County Circuit Court with one misdemeanor count each of battery, domestic abuse and disorderly conduct. If convicted, he faces up to a year in jail and/or up to $11,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, officers were dispatched Sunday to the 4800 block of Indian Hills Drive. When police arrived, they spoke with a woman who said she and her brother had gotten into an argument. When she tried to leave the residence to avoid a possible escalation, the man - Wallace - began hitting her with a closed fist.

When the woman tried to run to the bathroom, police say Wallace grabbed her leg and caused her to fall. He kept hitting the woman and spit on her numerous times as well. Officers noted in their report that they observed numerous scrapes on the woman while they were speaking to her.

Police entered the residence to speak to Wallace, the complaint reads, and he reportedly admitted to hitting the woman by saying, "I beat her (expletive)."

Wallace was released from the Racine County Jail on a $400 cash bond and ordered not to have any contact with the alleged victim. He will next be in court on Aug. 29 for a pre-trial conference.
