Mount Pleasant police are asking for the public's help locating both the suspect and the victim from an apparent kidnapping.

Mount Pleasant police are asking for the public's help locating both the suspect and the victim of an apparent kidnapping.

Jonathan C. Harris, 24, from Kenosha, is believed to be the man who took Jennifer E. Smith, 26, also of Kenosha, forcibly from a room at the Knight's Inn early Sunday morning.

Harris is described as a light-skinned, black male in his early 20s, between 5'7" and 5'9" and 150-170 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt and a white baseball hat. Harris is currently on parole from the state Department of Corrections. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Smith is a white female with blonde hair with pink streaks who may have been spotted in the City of Kenosha since this incident. Investigators want to locate her to check on her welfare.

Mount Pleasant police say they were called at 3:56 a.m. to the motel, 1149 Oakes Road, for a report of a man forcing a woman into a white Lincoln and taking off. Officers located the car traveling east on Washington Avenue and initiated a traffic stop.

During the stop, Smith attempted to exit the vehicle, but Harris pulled away even as an officer held onto Smith's arm. Police went into pursuit going south on Highway 32 at speeds approaching 100 miles per hour but terminated the chase when Harris drove into Kenosha County, according to MPPD Sgt. Eric Relich.

Late Sunday morning officers from the Kenosha Police Department and Mount Pleasant found the white Lincoln, but neither Harris nor Smith were located.

MPPD is asking for the public's help locating both Harris and Smith.
