Mount Pleasant Man Pays Taxes, Ends Up With OWI

Jesse Ramos admitted he drove to Village Hall to pay his taxes.

Drinking and driving don't mix, especially when going to Village Hall to pay your property taxes.

Mount Pleasant Police say they arrested Jesse Ramos, 55, at Village Hall right before noon on Dec. 28 after residents waiting in line with Ramos complained they could smell alcohol on him.

When officers spoke with Ramos, he reportedly admitted to driving alone in his vehicle to Village Hall to pay his taxes. He submitted to a field sobriety test that came away with a .15 reading, nearly double the .08 legal limit.

According to a writte release from the MPPD, Ramos was charged with Operating While Intoxicated and Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration of greater then or equal to .15.
