Man Tells Officers: to "Just Shoot Him Like Trayvon Martin"

Joshua Cark taunted police telling them to shoot him "like Trayvon Martin," according to a criminal complaint from Racine County District Attorney's Office.

Following a domestic abuse incident, a Racine man taunted police telling them to shoot him "like Trayvon Martin," according to a criminal complaint from Racine County District Attorney's Office.

Martin, a 17-year-old boy from Florida, was shot to death by George Zimmerman, who was a neighborhood watch captain, on Feb. 26, 2012. A jury acquitted Zimmerman of murdering Martin in July.

Joshua M. Cark, 25, who lives in the 2300 block of Olive Street, had punched a window in an infant's room.

Cark was charged with:

  • Criminal damage to property, felony domestic abuse repeat offender.
  • Disorderly conduct, felony domestic abuse, repeater
  • Resisting arrest
If he's found guilty on all charges, he faces up to six years in prison and fines up to $21,000.

According to the criminal complaint:

Cark had showed up to his ex-girlfriend's house and started pounding on the windows and doors. The woman told Cark to leave, but he refused and continued to pound on their seven-month old son's bedroom window so hard that it shattered.

The woman called Cark's mother and she picked up Cark. However, officers with the Mount Pleasant Police Department stopped the car where Cark was a passenger. Officers noted in the criminal complaint that some type of struggle seemed to be going on inside the car.

When Cark's mother stopped the car, he tried to get out after the officer told him to get back into the car. The officer pointed pointed  his gun at Cark and Cark's mother pulled him back into the car. That's when Cark told the officer to "just put a bullet in his head and put him out of his misery...just shoot him like Trayvon Martin."

According to court records, Cark's bond was set for $2,500. His initial appearance is set for August 14.
