Illinois Police Chase Ends with Two Arrested in Sturtevant

Wisconsin State Patrol troopers helped their Illinois colleagues apprehend two suspects in connection with a burglary and battery to police officers.

Two people are in custody after state troopers used a spike strip to end a police chase in Sturtevant that started in Elgin, Illinois.

At 4 a.m. Saturday, Illinois troopers asked Wisconsin State Patrol for help locating a grey Chevy Silverado into Wisconsin that contained two men suspected of burglary and aggravated battery to a police officer, Sgt. Wendy Younglove told Patch.

"We received a call for an attempt to locate, and one of our troopers was able to pick up and follow the vehicle into Wisconsin," she said.

The Wisconsin trooper followed the vehicle over the border on I-94 and was joined by Kenosha County Sheriff deputies in an attempt to stop the suspects, but they continued speeding north into Racine County.

Racine County Sheriff's deputies deployed a spike strip near the exit at Highway 11. The front tire on the Silverado was punctured and the truck eventually came to a stop.

The driver and passenger were both taken into custody and are being held at the Racine County Jail. Younglove said their names are not being released at this time because the Elgin Police Department is still working their investigation.

Younglove did say the suspects are expected to go before a judge in Racine County on Monday.
