Crime of the Week: 60 Metal Basin Covers Stolen

Racine Police are asking people to leave anonymous tips with Crime Stoppers to help them catch the person or people responsible for stealing metal storm basin covers.

Saying there is danger for pedestrians, bicycle riders and drivers alike, the Racine Police Department is asking for help finding the person(s) responsible for stealing storm basic covers throughout the city.

According to a written release from the RPD, some 60 covers were taken between Nov. 29 and Dec. 11.

The covers are rectangular metal with bars. They sit against curbs and help direct storm water run-off into the city sewer system.
