Bomb Threat at Ruud Lighting Found in Restroom Stall

Sturtevant Police say a threat was found on the door of a bathroom stall, but evidence of a device was never confirmed.

Sturtevant Police are reporting that a bomb threat was found Friday on the back of a door in a restroom stall at Ruud Lighting, 9201 Washington Avenue.

According to Chief Sean Marschke, the threat indicated a specific time for an explosion. The message was discovered after that time, nothing was found during a search and the company did not shut down.

Chief Sean Marschke said his department is following up on suspect leads based on handwriting comparison but said this incident is not related to a .

"Based on the handwriting, we are following up on suspect leads," he said. "These incidents are not linked. What happened last April was perpetrated by an individual was later terminated for job-related circumstances."

Last year, someone phoned in a bomb threat from an internal phone. That individual was later terminated for job performance issues.

Marschke said company officials are cooperating with the investigation.
