Argument Could Mean 10 Years in Prison for a Racine Man

This suspect threatened his brother inside his Mount Pleasant home after his brother gets sick of hearing about the suspect's philosophy on stealing.

All in the family takes a menacing turn for one man, his brother and sister-in-law and the officers who answered the call.

Mark A. Richardson, 56, of Racine could serve more than a decade behind bars after he got into a heated altercation at a Mount Pleasant home and then threatened police who arrested him.

Richardson was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of disorderly conduct domestic abuse, one count of disorderly conduct and two counts of felony bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to 12-½ years in prison and $22,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

At 10:54 p.m. Wednesday, Mount Pleasant police were called to a residence in the 5100 block of Rosedale Lane after Richardson got into an altercation with his brother and sister-in-law. The victims said Richardson was upset about a camera that was stolen two months ago and threatened to kill everyone in the house until he found it.

His brother said Richardson has told them every day since the camera went missing of his philosophy that it’s OK to steal from the rich, but not the poor, working people or family. The brother told Richardson he was sick of hearing about the philosophy and the stolen camera, which caused Richardson to get upst and chest bump his brother and eventually knock his sister-in-law to the ground.

Police arrested Richardson and, during the transport to Racine County Jail, told officers he fought in Vietnam, which he described as a “good war” and not like the “(expletive) war in Iraq.” He then told the officer he used to work in a prison in Missouri, but said he still didn’t trust “you evil (expletive)” police and told the officer he would spit in his face if not for the glass divider between them.

He’s currently being held in jail on $2,500 bail.
