$50K Bond for Florida Man Accused of Prostituting Teen Girl

A Florida man is in jail because police say he was prostituting a teenage girl out of a local motel.

A 33-year-old Florida man remains behind bars on a $50,000 cash bond because police say he was prostituting a teenage girl out of a local motel.

Troy Johnson was charged Friday in Racine County Circuit Court with one felony count each of soliciting a child for prostitution and possession of marijuana, second offense. If convicted, he faces up to 28-1/2 years in jail and/or up to $110,000.

According to the criminal complaint, Racine police Thursday responded to a report of child prostitution at the Super 8 Motel, 1150 Oakes Road, in Mount Pleasant. When officers arrived, a 16-year-old girl told them Johnson was forcing her to have sex with men he brought to her room at the Knight's Inn, across the street.

Police say the girl told them she met Johnson - who has several convictions in Florida for assault, drug possession and armed robbery - on either Monday or Tuesday at the Knight's Inn. Johnson reportedly threatened the girl if she tried to leave the room and kept the room key so he could "come and go as he pleased."

The girl told officers one man paid Johnson $200 to have sex with her, and in exchange, Johnson bought her alcohol and marijuana at her request, the complaint reads. She also told officers she believed Johnson brought seven men, most of them Hispanic, to her room to have sex with her.

Officers say they searched Johnson in his room at the Knight's Inn and found almost three grams of marijuana in his pocket.

Johnson's preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 2.
