Racine Lutheran Interim Expands Horizons

Racine Lutheran's Interim Program helps student expand their horizons and find future callings.

Is your teen interested in a career in animation, or crime scene investigation, or maybe manufacturing? Perhaps he aspires to community service and helping urban children, or she finds inspiration in big-city culture and the arts? Racine Lutheran’s Interim Program helps student expand their horizons and find future callings.

This year’s Interim offerings ranged from career insights at the Kohler Design Center and CNH to community service exposure at Blakewood Elementary School, and from crime scene investigation to cultural opportunities in New York and Chicago. Students also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at Lambeau Field, the Milwaukee Art Museum, and the Milwaukee Zoo. Athletic teens learned to become a basketball referee and figured out the physics of baseball. More than 40 students enjoyed a whirlwind music tour to the Twin Cities, performing at an array of colleges and churches.

“Interim increases students’ exposure to the world around us,” says Racine Lutheran Principal David Burgess. “Building on the foundation of classroom learning, Interim provides a tempting menu of new subjects to sample, and this keeps learning fresh and exciting. We are always offering something new; in the spring of 2014, a group of students and teachers will travel to Costa Rica for an international educational experience.”
