– On Saturday, May 24, 2014, volunteers from Healing Hearts with Hooves and Hounds will be sponsoring a golf tournament, sign up starting at 8 am, tee off at 9 am, at Beaver Creek Golf Course, 19619 Leroy Center Road, Capron, IL 61012. - There are hole sponsors, a car ‘hole in one’ contest, gift cards for all entries, raffles and silent auction items. A luncheon will be served after the event and prizes will be awarded.  Some of the special guests signed up for the event are Harvard Alderman Raul Meza and retired pro wrestler, Frank ‘the Tank’ Melson. Some of the pet therapy animals will be on hand to meet and greet everyone.

- Healing Hearts with Hooves and Hounds is a non profit organization that uses pet therapy; from horses and dogs to mini goats and mini donkeys, for retreats for survivors of domestic abuse. We are based out of several family farms in the Harvard area and travel to events in the state line area promoting domestic violence awareness and educational programs. This is our first annual golf tournament to raise awareness and funds to continue our mission of helping survivors of domestic abuse. We are working toward not only care of our current animals, but a place of our own to hold more retreats and open houses. Retreats are private and confidential and appointments can be easily made with our founder Mark Schuring: 815/245-0842.

- Healing Hearts with Hooves and Hounds offers retreats with local shelters like Remedies in Rockford and Turning Point in Woodstock as well as promoting domestic violence awareness within our schools by working with the local cheer teams and 4H clubs. We realize abuse can start at an early age, so we work with members in our schools to provide retreats or educational materials as needed. We appreciate the help the cheer teams and 4H groups have provided us as well, by helping with the animals at local events.
