Meet Sturtevant's New Full Time Officer

Officer Kevin Zurowski joins the Sturtevant Police Department full time Monday after serving in a part-time capacity since February.

Officer Kevin Zurowski begins patrolling Sturtevant full time Monday after getting familiar with the village on a part-time basis over the last few months.

SVPD Chief Sean Marschke confirmed with Patch Friday that Zurowski fills a vacancy from last year when two officers resigned. He said his new officer is a great fit because of his dedication and previous experience.

"Kevin was chosen for his commitment to his family and the community," Marschke said. "And, he has past experience working with the Big Bend Police Department."

Zurowski - and three other officers -Β was hired as a part-time officer in February to help solve the vacancies without gutting the department's budget. Marschke's plan all along, though, was to evaluate the part-time officers' work and then bring forth a name to hire on fulltime.

Marschke said the remaining part-time officers will remain in rotation, and he expects to hire two more in the coming weeks.
