Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists of Kenosha Offers New Methods to Abolish Headaches; Jeanette De Witt, PT, MPT, LAT, ATC Attends Continuing Education to Better Meet the Needs of Our Community

One in every six Americans suffers from frequent headaches. Headaches can be extremely frustrating, making it hard to focus at work, or causing too much pain to enjoy recreational activities. Believe it or not, headaches are often linked to several other symptoms including neck, inner ear, teeth and jaw pain, and dizziness. Jeanette De Witt, PT, MPT, LAT, ATC, Local Operator and Director of Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists of Kenosha (PTRS Kenosha), recently underwent continuing education on headache management to help our community beat these stubborn symptoms.

To ensure her patients receive the best quality outcomes, Jeanette traveled to Cincinnati, OH for a 2-day course titled “Strategic Orthopedics Spine System: Vestibular Rehab – How to “Out-think” and “Out-Maneuver” Vertigo, Dizziness, Neck Pain and Headache,” presented by Angelo DiMagigo, PT, Dip. MDT and Mike Secosky, MPT. After receiving education on this conservative treatment approach, Jeanette is better able to fully evaluate all symptoms that may be causing headaches and abolish them.

Headaches not only cause uncomfortable symptoms, but can hurt a person’s wallet too. It is estimated that up to $50 billion dollars is spent every year on medical expenses and work absences due to headaches. “Too often I hear a patient say they have tried many different treatments and the pain is still there. Everything has been checked out, but the symptoms are still persisting,” stated De Witt. “Time and again, symptoms such as inner-ear pain and balance problems can be something a person is experiencing also, but does not report…they’ve always had it and think that everyone else does too,” she continued.

Other symptoms that may be linked to long-lasting headaches include fogginess, ringing in the ears, the inability to concentrate, sensitivity to sound, mid-back pain, numbness and tingling in the arms, vertigo/dizziness, and sinus problems. Those who are experiencing chronic headaches or any of these additional symptoms are encouraged to contact the clinic to schedule a free consultation. “Nobody wants to be in pain. I’m excited to use my continuing education to better serve our community and help stop headaches from the source of the pain,” said De Witt.
