Update: Diversey, Inc. Plans to Remain in Sturtevant

The deal with Sealed Air will not affect where the company is headquartered or its leadership team.

Sturtevant-based Diversey, Inc. is not moving its operations from Racine County.

John Matthews, a spokesperson for the company, confirmed today, June 2, with Mount Pleasant-Sturtevant Patch that Diversey is committed to remaining in Sturtevant.

"Company leaders are committed to staying in Sturtevant as the headquarters for the Americas," he said. Top leadership is also not changing, Matthews added.

“We are excited about the opportunities we have to grow with Sealed Air through increased scale and expanded reach,” Edward F. Lonergan, chief executive of Diversey, said in a statement quoted by the Times. “We share a culture of innovation and a global vision for our business.”

In February of this year, Curt Johnson stepped down as the head of Sturtevant-based Diversey, Inc. for personal reasons. On March 24,Johnson was charged with repeated sexual assault of the same child for inappropriate contact with a now-15-year-old girl.

Johnson's sister, Helen Johnson-Leopold, took the reins of the company, the commercial cleaning arm of the SC Johnson family of companies.

When the Sealed Air deal completes at the end of the year, Diversey will own 15 percent of that company.
