Here's What's Open on New Year's Day

Whether you partied hearty or not at all, chances are you'll leave the house on New Year's Day. Here's where you can go.

Happy New Year! 2013 is looking bright, indeed, isn't it?

Unlike on Christmas Day, when the majority of businesses are closed, New Year's Day is a lot more open. Whether you need to run out and grab some eats or you ran out of eats and need a refill, there are plenty of places open Tuesday to take care of you.

Piggly Wiggly on Washington Avenue is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. They have a fully stocked deli full of wings and an expansive craft beer area to keep the fun flowing during the various bowl games.

In Caledonia, shoppers can visit Pick 'n' Save just north of 4-Mile on Douglas. There won't be any excuses for running out of treats on this last (first?) holiday of the year.

But if going out is more your thing, the Dynasty Restaurant will be serving hot and tasty dishes from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Dynasty is located at 2427 Lathrop in Racine.

Coffee will undoubtedly be in order. Starbucks on Washington Avenue is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. to fulfill all your java needs.

Shopping, anyone?

If you're like millions of other Americans this Christmas, you received at least one gift card, and, now, you need to spend it.

Most malls and stores are open today, including Regency Mall, Southridge, Mayfair and Brookfield Square.

And ... action!

If sitting around watching college football isn't really your game, but you do want to take in a movie,  both in South Shore in Oak Creek and Renaissance Cinema in Sturtevant, are open.

Django Unchained and Les Miserables opened on Christmas Day. Parental Guidance, Jack Reacher, Wreck-It Ralph, The Hobitt and Cirque de Soleil are all playing as well.
