Whooping Cough Vaccine Information
While Wheaton Fransican All Saints is not offering free vaccines to the public, there are ways to protect yourself and your family from Whooping Cough.
Since the of a student at Horlick High School being diagnosed with Whooping Cough, community members have been wondering what they can do to prevent the illness.
There had been rumors that Wheaton Franciscan All Saints would be offering the vaccine free to the public today. However, those reports are untrue.
The vaccine for Whooping Cough (also called Pertussis) also includes the Tetanus and Diphtheria vaccines. According to Jennifer Garbo-Shawhan, Director - Marketing, Communication & Public Relations for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, these immunizations are being offered under a new state funded initiative called Pertussis Cocooning Project of Wisconsin. Under the guidelines of this project, vaccines are being offered for free to post partum mothers who are still in the hospital. It will also include family members who will be having immediate contact on a regular basis with the newborns. Other patients of Wheaton can contact their primary physician to learn more about the vaccine.
