Good Road Conditions in Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant After First Snow

Both villages had trucks on the road for hours and are now focused on clean up.

Well, for a first real snow of the season, it was certainly noteworthy. An official 6.1 inches fell throughout Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant, slowing Jan. 12 rush hour traffic and pulling people out of bed early on Jan. 13 to clear driveways and sidewalks.

Mark Benish, head of Public Works in Mount Pleasant, said all 12 of the village's plows were out from 2 to 10 pm and back at it again by 3 am. At 7:30 am on Jan. 13 the main roads were mostly cleared.

"Main roadways are passable and we're working on the side streets," he said. "We expect to be out a good part of the day, but drivers should still be careful."
