TOGETHER RACINE SUBJECTS OF NOVEMBER RACINE AAUW MEETING: REGISTRATION DEADLINE
OCTOBER 27:
How newspapers portray public school teachers and Coming
Together Racine will be the topics of the Racine AAUW meeting on Saturday,

Johanna Quinn, a sociology graduate student at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison, will present her research entitled “Teaching
in a Sea of Crisis: Newspaper

Her project examines how newspapers frame K-12 public
schools as sites of crisis and the ways teachers are imagined, depicted and
constructed in the news.
Jessica MacPhail, Racine Public Library Director, will
also be speaking on “Coming Together Racine,” an organization working to
actively challenge and eliminate racism in the greater Racine community.
Registration will start at 11:00 a.m., dinner at 11:30
a.m. and program at 12:30 p.m.
Reservations can be made by sending a $16.00 check, made out to Racine
AAUW, to Pat Holt, PO Box 214, Somers, WI 53171. The deadline for reservations is October 27.
While the program can be attended free-of-charge,
