Doesn't sound like a very good choice either way for Village president. Havn & Hewitt look like obvious roadblocks to progress. Why can't I vote for 3 trustees like in the election? DeGroot, Molnar & Herek offer hope amid disaster. Meilke, the previous president, should go to jail & have to refund taxpayer money.   more ›

Only Clerk's Office Open on Good Friday as Early Voting Ends

Friday is the last day for residents to vote early in person for Tuesday's election and clerks' offices across the state, including Mount Pleasant's and Sturtevant's, are required to be open.

With the spring election on Tuesday, muncipal clerks' offices across the state - including Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant - are required to be open on Good Friday. The clerk’s offices in Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant will be open for in-person absentee voting and other election details that day. Friday is the deadline for in-person voting. You may also cast an absentee ballot by mail, but it must be postmarked no later than Tuesday. Here is more information on voting early in Wisconsin. Got An Alternate Title for Gov. Scott Walker's New Book?

Gov. Scott Walker is coming out with a book that chronicles the controversy over his 2011 budget reforms. The book already has a title, but that didn't stop people from taking to Twitter with their own suggestions.

Gov. Scott Walker’s book, which will be titled “Unintimidated: A Governor’s Story and a Nation’s Challenge,” is set to hit the bookstores shelves sometime late in 2013. Sentinel imprint of Penguin Group announced Tuesday that it has acquired the rights to the book. The book chronicles Walker’s budget reforms in 2011, which sparked massive protests and counter protests. During the budget-making process, Walker sought to erase a $3.6 billion deficit by eliminating their ability to collectively bargain and asked unions to pay more for their insurance and pensions. At one point, almost 100,000 people protested Walker’s budget and a number of Democrats left the state to protest his proposal. "This book tells the dramatic story of how one brave …

Election Preview: Mount Pleasant Village President

Trustee Karen Albeck is running for the top spot for the first time, and County Supervisor Mark Gleason is looking to return to the helm after a decade-long absence.

Two candidates are asking for residents' votes to take the gavel as Mount Pleasant village president: Trustee Karen Albeck and County Supervisor Mark Gleason. Albeck has been on the village board since 2009 and is running for the village's top spot for the first time. Gleason was the town chair until Mount Pleasant incorporated in 2003 and has represented parts of the village and Caledonia on the county board for the last ten years. Current President James Majdoch is not running for re-election. He was appointed last September after former President Carolyn Milkie resigned. I agree with the above. Gleason did not take the time to answer a reporter's questions. That shows how he will treat residents. But we know from ten years ago, Gleason made a mess of Mt Pleasant, then left the mess for others to fix. Gleason is in bed with special interests and is not to be trusted, he is evil.
