Hi
Welcome to the grand experiment. My name is Rees Roberts and I have decided to do something useful. Well, at least get myself out of the house more.
I made a new years resolution to try and record each Mt. Pleasant Village Board of Trustees meetings on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. Many people can not go to these meetings but it is at those meetings where decisions are made that affect each Mt. Pleasant citizen. So, in the spirit of open government I thought, as a citizen of Mt. Pleasant, I would record and upload these recordings to Patch. I am hoping that the logistics work out and there is enough interest in listening to them.
The first one will be this coming Monday night. If you have any suggestions or comments just let me know here.
Cheers
Rees Roberts
Update: A very full agenda. Meeting ended at about 10:30pm. This deserves your attention. Many important issues were discussed by the board this evening (1/14/13). I learned that I could make it easier for the listener to provide time markers so you can go to a place in the agenda of interest. I will do that starting next time. But, this should keep your interest. I certainly didn't see anyone yawn during this meeting. Important decisions were made and it is important for you to see who did not vote in the majority. Amazing.
Further Update:
We have successfully linked to the soundtrack. You may now hear it at the following link:

This is AWESOME!! Thank you. With two kids and a husband who works in the evenings, it is usually impossible to go (tho once they get a little older I will start attending regularly). I, for one, would REALLY appreciate this. Great resolution!

Good idea, Rees. It's important that people follow these meetings. A lot of stuff ends up flying under the radar and some pretty significant decisions get made, often before citizens have had a chance to put in their two cents worth (to the extent that it has any effect, but still...)
One suggestion I might make is linking to the agenda for the meeting, if your community has a website where it's posted prior to the meeting itself. It can give those interested some fair warning on the topics to be discussed and may encourage them to attend as well.
Good luck with that.

Thanks Bob for your suggestion. I'm working on getting the agenda but more importantly getting it on an on going basis.
Heather R Geyer, glad to see the interest. If there are other Mt. Pleasant events which are public and could be recorded, I would certainly entertain those suggestions.

Bob, as you can see, the agenda is now available at the top of the page. Just click on the small image and it will appear. Again, thanks for the suggestion.

Just a reminder, this is not a live broadcast but rather a recording. It will be posted later this evening.

Recording has been uploaded. Awaiting moderation approval as of 6:53am.
Note: I also uploaded a new agenda as I incorrectly had uploaded the agenda for the January 17th meeting instead of the January 14th meeting.

Note: We are having technical difficulties. Apparently, for some reason, the file I uploaded last night might have been too big. Heather is looking into this for us.

It is confirmed, the reason for not having my recording show up is because Patch has a limitation of 500 megabytes for a video file. I am currently uploading it to another site and will be available soon.
