Who cares about the weather? If you prefer brisk, winter outdoor activities, it’s perfect. If the cold is keeping you indoors, there’s plenty going on in Racine County. Here are our picks.

A children’s classic with a twist.  Everyone knows the tale of Little Red Riding Hood, but have you ever heard the wolf’s side of the story? That’s the promise of “The Real Story of Little Red Riding Hood” presented by the Racine Children’s Theatre this Friday through Sunday, Jan. 6-8. Performances are at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday and at noon, 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Racine Theatre Guild, 2519 Northwestern Ave. Tickets are $6 for all seats and all ages. Try your hand at curling.  Curling isn’t just a Winter Olympics sport – it’s right here in Racine. The Racine Curling Club, 1914 Melvin Ave., presents a “learn to curl” open house on Saturday and Sunday. Curling, which traces its origin to Scotland, is played on ice indoors. It involves delivering a polished granite stone toward a target. Anyone interested in learning the sport is invited to the club from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday or 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Television memories. Comedian Mike Toomey will take his audience through TV of the 1960s and ‘70s at the Racine Theatre Guild, 2519 Northwestern Ave., on Saturday. Curtain is at 8 p.m. Toomey’s show includes impersonations of TV personalities, classic slides and sound bites and humorous observations about his childhood television watching. Toomey is part of the Theatre Guild’s “Comedy Tonight” series. Tickets are $17 for adults and $15 for seniors and students. There will also be a raffle for a flat screen TV. A family classic. The inspirational classic opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors" will be presented Saturday and Sunday by SouthEast Wisconsin Performing Arts at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 614 Main St. Performances  are at 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $5 for youth age 3 through 13. Tickets are available online at www.sewpa.org and at the door.
