Who Serves the Best Fish Fry?
Patch is hunting for the best fish fry in Mount Pleasant, Sturtevant and Caledonia. Tell us your favorite, and get ready to vote next week.
Who's got the best fish fry in town? Patch wants to know.
Fish fries are always popular in Wisconsin, and everyone has a favorite.
But there is no time for a fish fry like Lent, which began this week.
We'd like to know where your favorite spot is for a Friday night fish fry. Give us a suggestion in the comments section below, and we'll feature that spot in a poll on Monday.
You'll be able to vote throughout the week, and we'll name the winner on March 2. Winners will be determined by Patch editors based on poll votes, comments, reviews and Facebook or Twitter feedback.
Our search for the Best Fish Fry kicks off 12 weeks of local business competition, trying to narrow down the top spots in town for everything from pizza to mechanics to salons.
So start thinking of your local favorites, and get ready to vote, share your opinions and write reviews abut the best spots in town.

1) Captain's Cove just west of 94 and south of 20 (Sturtevant). Good panko-crusted cod. Includes all-you-can-eat salad bar.
2) Hiawatha Bar at Wisconsin and Durand (Sturtevant). Good beer-battered cod.
3) Fritz's on Douglas just north of 3 mile (Racine). Good fish and "cheesy" potato casserole.
Another fav is Erv's Mug at the nw corner of Howell and Ryan (Oak Creek). I know the location precludes it from being included in the "local" contest of this blog, but it is good nonetheless and worth mentioning.

Just had the pollack at Shuffle Bear North. I thought it was VERY good.
Friend had the baked cod and also indicated it was very good.

Huge fan of the Shuffle Bear.... but I'm bias. They are friends of my fiance's family. I never knew that Fritz's ever had a fish fry. Hmm... maybe I'll have the next Patch meet up there.

My wife and I are addicted to the cod fish fry at Culvers. I have no idea how they make it so consistently good each and every time. We usually buy the 3 piece and split it between each of us because it's all so filling and yummy. Have never had a bad fish dinner there so far, no matter which location we go to. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

We really like Gus's on Goold & Douglas.
I don't think their Fish Fry is homemade...possibly a pre-battered Sysco cod, but it's crispy and hot with 3 larges pieces and they have homemade fries and good coleslaw. Plus, it's only $4.50.
Danny's Meat market has great fish fry, too and now that he has bought Kayne's, you can sit down and eat it instead of taking it to go.

This is a great topic since we usually go "out of town" for fish fries
since we try to avoid fried foods. We like the baked fish at Polenez
(St. Francis), where the fish comes with soup, salad, potato pancakes,
washed down with any number of great Polish beers. Karl Ratzsch
Restaurant in downtown Milwaukee etudes German charm and serves a nice
fish fry, again with potato pancakes as an option. But the real
question now for us is where does the fish come from? We try to avoid
farmed fish as well as those from Asian Pacific waters. Despite
Americans love affair with tilapia we find it bland. How can we
determine where to dine based on these criteria? As a postscript we
usually run to Yardarm for a quick fish "fry".

the question is who has the best fish fry in MT PLEASANT, CALEDONIA OR STURTEVANT, NOT RACINE, OAK CREEK OR ANY PLACE ELSE

We had takeout from Roma Lodge last Friday and were very disappointed. Portion size on all three dinners was small, especially om the baked dinner. We ordered seasoned fries with all the dinners. One dinner had only a few fries and a baked potato. There were no rolls or bread with any of the dinners,, Defnitely NOT worth the price.
