Narrative from the criminal complaint indicates a juvenile member of the household arrived home around 12 pm and heard voices inside the house. She then locked herself in another room to wait for police.

A neighbor also provided an account of the suspects during the same time period walking in the neighborhood. The witness gave police physical descriptions and said he observed the teens walking to the residence where the alleged crime took place.

After an adult arrived home, she confirmed that a PlayStation 3 and various items of jewelry were taken. The juvenile resident of the home said a boy she knew from Case High School had texted her earlier in the day to ask if she was home. From that information and the physical description from the other witness, police determined a possible identity.

After getting the serial number of the game system, police checked with the Game Stop on Green Bay Road. A clerk there confirmed three young men tried to sell him a PlayStation 3, but he refused the deal because the game system looked too new. Ghani presented an ID as required by store policy. The store also had video and police were able to visually identify both Ghani and the 16-year-old accomplice.

Officers arrested the boy after his mother called to report he had returned home. After being taken to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, the boy was questioned and admitted his role in the burglary as a look-out. That same day, Ghani was pulled over and arrested.

He made his initial court appearance on Sept. 23. Ghani's next scheduled court date is a preliminary hearing on Oct. 6 before Judge Eugene Gasiorkiewicz.
