Two Charged in Herpes Fueled Rampage in Mount Pleasant

A Brookfield man, 18, and his friend begin to slash tires after he becomes upset that a girl he has a relationship with has herpes.

Two men are facing charges after they slashed tires on numerous vehicles at a Mount Pleasant car dealership after one of the men became upset when he discovered a woman with whom he was having a sexual relationship had herpes.

Gavin James Paul Chalmers, 18, of Brookfield, and Jeffrey C. Jones, 31, of Racine, were charged in Racine County Circuit Court Friday with one count of felony criminal damage to property. If convicted, they each face up to 3 ½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

At 10:43 p.m. Tuesday, where they found three cars in the parking lot with flat tires. A waitress at a nearby said she saw two men pop the tires and walk westbound on Highway 20.

Officers were then called to where they found 17 more vehicles with slashed tires and one vehicle with popped tires at Porcaro Mitsubishi. Officers then found Chalmers and Jones in front of and a knife in nearby grass.

The men said they went on the rampage after Chalmers found out a woman with whom he was having a sexual relationship had herpes, which made him upset. They also knocked over some items in the area.

A total of 31 tires were slashed in the rampage, 17 of which were at Pocaro. The tires were valued at $150 each.

Both men are currently being held in Racine County Jail on $500 cash bond and a $2,000 signature bond.
