Traffic Stop Means Felony Charges For Area Woman
Suspect is caught driving with a suspended license while out on bail for child abuse charges.
A warrant has been issued for a 31-year-old Racine woman after she failed to appear in court for traffic violations.
Jennifer M. Chavez was caught in Sturtevant allegedly driving with a suspended license. She was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of operating a motor vehicle after revocation of her license and one count of felony bail jumping. If convicted, she faces up to seven years in prison and $12,500 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint, on Sept. 11 a Sturtevant police officer spotted Chavez driving westbound on Highway 11 and noticed the registration on her car was suspended, so he pulled her over. Once pulled over, he then discovered Chavez's license was revoked because of an operating while intoxicated conviction.
Chavez was also slapped with the felony bail jumping charges because she was free on bond while facing felony child abuse charges. She’s currently out of custody and an arrest warrant has been issued against her.

The Judges in Racine County sure have a "Warped" Sense of who to let out on Bond! More people get released on Signature bonds after their 2nd or 3rd OWI in Racine than ANY Other County I have Ever Seen!
