Shots Fired in Mount Pleasant, Suspects At Large
Police say two men were seen arguing in front of a green house before going between homes. Two shots were heard and officers in the area on another matter responded.
Despite officers being on scene in a matter of minutes, two men suspected of firing shots on the southeast side of the village remain at large.
Mount Pleasant Police are asking for the public's help locating the suspects, one of whom was described by witnesses as carrying a weapon:
- Black male
- 5'10"
- Stocky build
- Longer, curly hair pulled back
- Last seen wearing blue jeans
According to a written release from MPPD, two men were arguing in front of a green house near the 2100 block of Racine Street at around 6:30 pm Monday. After the men went between two homes, witnesses say they heard two shots fired.
Mount Pleasant officers were in the area for another matter and also heard the shots. They responded immediately with additional MPPD squads and assistance from the Racine Police Department and followed directions provided by area residents up an alley and into the 2000 block of Racine Street.
Officers were told the suspect may have fled into an apartment building in the 1900 block, but were unable to locate anyone despite a thorough search of the premises.
No injuries were reported, and the incident remains under investigation.
