Sealed Air YMCA Rolls Out Red Carpet for a Premier Night
YMCA leadership and staff welcomed donors and special guests during a red-carpet welcome Wednesday to the new Sealed Air YMCA in Mount Pleasant.
The Sealed Air YMCA isn't scheduled to officially open until Saturday, but Wednesday night the organization hosted a red carpet premier to show off the brand new facility in Mount Pleasant.
In the planning for years, the new YMCA is a $14 million family fitness center started with a $6 million donation from Diversey, Inc. Sealed Air - makers of Bubble Wrap - purchased Diversey last year, prompting the change from the Diversey YMCA to the Sealed Air YMCA.
Case helped with another $1 million and Ruud/Cree provided $3 million worth of LED lights. Hundreds of donations from community residents big, small and individual also helped make the new Y possible.
One end of the buildng houses the YMCA and everything people expect: an aquatic center with 2 pools, a water slide and lazy river and a zero-depth splash play area for little ones; fitness studios for classes; a room dedicated to spin classes; a room especially for yoga; a huge gym that can host more than one game at a time or feature one highlight game; a drop-off child care center; and an upstairs with a walk/jog track and a host of cardio equipment, weight machines and free weights.
The other end of the building is home to the Sealed Air Child Care Center open to families throughout the community. The child care area has a separate entrance so it's closed to the rest of the facility and can take infants from six weeks of age all the way to age five.

Why is it called "Sealed Air?"

@Heather - Sealed Air purchased Diversey last year so when the company changed names, so did the Y. Sorry! I'll make that more clear in the body of the story.

Another quality looking developement in Mount Pleasant. When is the rest of eatern Racine County going to get its act together. Apparently, Mount Pleasant's development standards are not stingent enough like Elmwood Park.
