Weekend Death Ruled Accidental, Victim's Name Released

A 19-year-old Mount Pleasant died over the weekend, and the medical examiner is ruling it an accident.

Racine County Medical Examiner Michael Payne has ruled Lucas P. Michel's death an accident.

"We are still investigating his death and waiting for toxicology reports to come back," Payne said. "But there is no indication this is anything other than an accident."

Mount Pleasant police and rescue personnel were called at 4:45 a.m. Saturday to a home in the 2700 block of North Fancher Road for reports of a young man not waking up, according to a statement from police.

The South Shore Fire Department rescue squad transported Michel to Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary's, where he was pronounced dead.

He was 19 years old.

MPPD Capt. Brian Smith said officers are interested in talking with people who may have been with Michel to make sure his death wasn't caused by bad illegal drugs.

"We need to make sure there isn't anything bad on the street," he said. "We're treating this young man's death as suspicious because the death of an otherwise healthy 19-year-old is surprising."

Payne said there is some preliminary evidence of prescription drugs, but couldn't confirm if alcohol was involved. Toxicology reports take about four weeks for results.

Tell the truth if it is an overdose, quit babyfying these overdoses. It's making it worse. Ignoring the problem seems to be a common thing when it comes to an overdose. May this too young to die man RIP. :(

@Kelly - we can't say what the cause of death is until the ME gives it to us.

What makes this suspicious is TV news said, 911 was called after they couldn't wake him. Who tries waking someone at 4:25 am on a Saturday morning? I guess it does happen but....

If you were to wake up in the morning to go to work (as if you have a job ) Ignorant as you sound, for the love of god I would hope that you would call 911, if a loved one was unresponsive! God bless our family in our time of need!

"Good" illegal drugs have preserved Keith Richards quite well.

I think it's sad no matter what accidental or what drugs that we lost a 19 year old. My condolences to his family!
