Kelley Albrecht: The 63rd District Needs a New Perspective

Kelley Albrecht can bring something new to the 63rd Assembly District. Armed with integrity and compassion, Albrecht can bring some much needed change.

Possible Ironic Fraud?

“I did not personally witness any voter fraud,” Vos said. “But some portion of what happened could be classified as fraud.”

That was Representative Robin Vos’ statement on Upfront with Mike Gousha shortly after the Senator Lehman/Wanggaard recount fiasco. Vos has been a staunch supporter of Voter ID laws and a big ole wolf crier on voter fraud. What makes it all the more ironic that his soon-to-be ex wife is being investigated for, yep, you guessed it ... voter fraud.

Vos’ opponent for the 63rd Assembly District, Kelley Albrecht, stated, “It is beyond the pale that the only case of documented voter fraud in Racine County may have occurred in Rep. Vos’ family – a family having many, many years of experience working in the political field and on political campaigns.”

Samantha Vos has been accused of committing voter fraud by casting a ballot in several Wisconsin elections after having declared residency in Idaho. Either she has had a series of political brain farts or she is one pissed off wife who knows how to cut a guy with some sharp irony. Or perhaps it was a misunderstanding and her real mistake was filing for divorce as an Idahoan. Who knows. That’s for the investigators to figure out.

It should be pointed out that the Voter ID laws the GOP/Tea Party have been bulldozing throughout the country would not have prevented the above mentioned case of possible voter fraud. It should also be mentioned that as of today, no case has been turned over for prosecution of voter fraud in the county.

And honestly, if voter fraud was the true motive behind the Voter ID laws, if there was real evidence that Voter ID would be beneficial to our Democracy and if IDs were completely free and easily accessible – then I don’t think you would find too many Democrats/Progressives so against them. But the fact is, these laws, much of which have been authored by corporate funded right wing organizations, are nothing more than an attempt to disenfranchise voters whom typically vote against their extreme conservative ideals.

So, it really cracks me up that there has been a hush of silence in regards to this Samantha Vos case. Had this been a spouse of a Democrat, I am fairly certain (heck, I’d bet a toe) that this story would be plastered over the local paper and Republican figures would be stomping up and down in glorious arrogance.

Personally, I will not scream ‘voter fraud’ before more information has been made available and until we have the full story. But I can still appreciate the irony as I sit back and wait. Pass the popcorn, Robin?

Why Vos is a Loss

I think many of Vos’ constituents have come to see the light when it comes to his values and priorities.

“My opponent has lost his way in the pressure of corporate interest and greed,” said Albrecht.

Robin Vos is one of 43 Republican legislators who have been accused of illegally accepting  gifts from A.L.E.C. (The American Legislative Exchange Council). He also stepped into it when it came to questionable gifted legal fees being a reason for his bowing out of a lawsuit dealing with (cough) voter ID. I mean, if you hang around with garbage long enough, it is hard not to pick up the stench (note to Paul Ryan: Fabreeze).

Representative Vos has joined the Tea Party parade and has shown his ultra right winged views increasingly in the past few years. Like many old school Republicans, he went from reasonable to full on resistance as soon as he saw the opportunity for corporate advantages.

“My opponent has been bought out by corporate interests and no longer represents the people’s interest. He has handed over our tax funds to his cronies and denied citizens their right to access to their government and participation. In the process, he has violated ethics and continues to thwart the law to further his own agenda,” claims Albrecht.

Albrecht: Integrity Trumps Politics

Kelley Albrecht grew up in a very large family and was taught the value of hard work, compassion and accountability. She went on to work as a Nuclear Fuel Handler and had many hurdles during that time. She stood up for herself and others at the risk of her job, livelihood and personal safety. Kelley knew long ago who she was and of what she was made.

Integrity is at the heart of the Albrecht promise. While loyalty can be a valuable virtue in many aspects of life – the loyalty Kelley feels for her future constituency trumps any other. She will always make her decisions and cast her vote with the citizens in mind. She refuses to cave to lobbyists, special interests or even party lines.

“You see, we are not elected to simply walk into a chamber and case a vote. We must understand how that vote will affect the people we serve,” Kelley added.

There will be a debate between Candidate Kelley Albrecht and Representative Robin Vos at JI Case High School on Monday October 22, 2012 at 7:00pm. Listen to what they have to say and make your own informed decision.

I attended the meeting at JI CASE. I admired all the guests except Kelley the other guests all gave their ideas and suggestions on how they could help Racine county and our state. everu time Kelley had to answer a question she tried her darndest to slander robin vos--no plans, no suggestions, just trash as I have also seen in her ads. Is that what you want to represent your future?

@HRG -

Looks like you jumped the gun on this one! Vos' legally separated wife did not commit any sort of voter fraud, nor is she being investigated for such, as she is only temporarily living in Idaho with her family while sorting out her marital affairs with Robin. Her domicile is and always has been Wisconsin.

A blue fist liberal was trying to dig up some dirt on Robin Vos, but failed miserably and looks like a fool in the process! The fact that you bought into Retrum's smear campaign of lies with less than all the facts, well, let's just say it doesn't look very good!

As far a voter fraud goes, if you bothered to read the Racine County Sheriff's report filed by the investigative officers, then you'd know that it is nearly impossible to investigate, detect, and successfully prosecute because the current system permits it to happen quite easily.

On page 4 of 9 of Investigator Rosanne Gordon's report pertaining to Incident Report # 12-033434, in regards to registration fraud, she admits that "the voter registration forms would have to be checked." But there's no follow up indicating that all the new voter registration forms were in fact checked by anyone. And that was the end of the investigation into those claims. Apparently, the logistics of personally checking thousands of registration forms, and personally visiting the addresses listed on those forms to verify if the elector actually lives where they claimed to live is beyond the financial resources of the department. And let's not forget that over 300 of the new registration verification post cards were returned as not deliverable as addressed in the City of Racine.

On page 5 of 9, she admits to not being able to properly investigate for voter fraud because "[i]f a person votes under a different name, there is no way to verify that they had done so, with the current Wisconsin Act 23, Voter Photo ID Law on hold."

Bottom line - no one knows if voter fraud is occurring or not because 1) it's easy to commit and go undetected, and 2) there's never been a properly conducted full scale investigation into voter fraud.

And with liberal cheerleaders making comments like this, there's probably plenty of it happening:

Don't you hold Schultz in high regards? You may want to rethink that!

It's comical how you attack Vos as an extreme right-winger while citing allegations from extreme left-wing groups!

As far as Assemblyman Vos is concerned, we're quite happy with him in the 63rd district, thank you very much. Vos has proven himself to be a competent and bold leader who's not afraid to tackle the tough issues.

Albrecht is apparently a LIAR, claiming that "[Vos] has handed over our tax funds to his cronies and denied citizens their right to access to their government and participation." Nothing could be further from the truth - Vos is a taxpayer's champion and is super accessible, as Hoffa speaks with him regularly.

Hoffa also notices how the only kind of platform that Albrecht offered was to trash Vos - it takes a little more than merely trashing your opponent to win over an informed electorate! Perhaps Albrecht should try coming up with some material of her own if she's a serious candidate - just a little hint.

Vos will dominate in the debate and will win on November 6th!

ROMNEY/RYAN/THOMPSON/VOS 2012!!!

Since Hoffa can only speak in the third person, I will inform Hoffa that Hoffa is wrong. Vos DID hand over taxpayer money to his cronies by using private law firms to make the *** UnConstitutional*** redistricting that had zero public input. We (that's my neighbors and I) are NOT "quite happy" with Vos and plan to vote him out. When my Assemblyman has multiple encounters with the law in a single year, it's a hint that something's not right. As of right now, a turtle in a speedo would be a better Assemblyman than Vos. And as for Hoffa, you shoulda stayed disappeared.

@Watching the stupidity -

Apparently, you forgot to proofread your own comment for stupidity before you posted it!

Redistricting usually ends up in the courts, irregardless of what party has majority control when it's implemented. And the court upheld all the new districts with the exception of one - that's actually pretty good considering the history of redistricting battles.

And the use of outside counsel is not that unusual - Doyle used outside counsel many times over the course of his administration, but I bet you didn't ever complain about that, did you?

Vos took a beer on the head by an unhinged blue fister nut job, lest you forget.

Vos has proven himself to be a leader and will easily win both the upcoming debate and election. Just don't go crying to your momma when we re-elect Assemblyman Vos - the taxpayer's champion!

FYI... When the DA's office takes on a case from the GAB, its called 'investigating'. So, yes, Samantha IS being investigated. Why? When you swear under oath that you have been a citizen of one state (lets use ID for example) for a certain length of time and at the same time you vote in 3 different elections in another state (WI for this example) that IS voter fraud. I would never expect a Republican Faux entertainment viewed such as yourself to undertake what most of us consider fraud. I also don't consider Vos making time for you as more than a man glad handing a financial contributor... All others he tends to shut down and ignore. The other exception being women on the bucketload of dating sites he belongs to and uses during all of his marriages.

@Karen -

Check your facts again - the DA's office has NOT acted on the complaint. Just because the blue fister nut job Retrum lodged a complain with the DA doesn't mean that the DA has taken on the case.

No, Samantha is not under investigation at this time.

You, HRG, Retrum, and other blue fisters really need to check the election laws before you go spewing your lies on a public forum. Wisconsin's election laws are premised on domicile.

gab.wi.gov/voters/residency

"Your voting residence is defined as the place where you live, without any present intent to move, and where you intend to return when you are away."

Statement from Samantha Vos' attorney:

"It was agreed that you would go back home to Idaho and stay with your family while trying to figure out what to do with your relationship. You kept your personal property in your Burlington home, kept your bank accounts in Wisconsin, kept your driver’s license and registration in Wisconsin, and always intended to return to Wisconsin as your permanent residence. In fact, you also applied to UWM in March of 2012 and were accepted for a program this fall. You have not taken any job in Idaho, leased any property in Idaho, or voted in Idaho."

Clearly, Samantha Vos' domicile is Wisconsin, thus it is completely legal for her to vote in our elections while she is temporarily in Idaho.

Retrum's complaint with the Racine County DA will be appropriately referred to the circular file without investigation.

@Karen Caserat -

Under Retrum's, HRG's, your, and blue fist logic, that means that anyone who gets married in Vegas, or in any other state for that matter, but lives in Wisconsin, is guilty of voter fraud, because when those people sign the marriage license, they're legally declaring residency in the other state.

So, are you, Retrum, HRG, and other blue fisters going to start filings complaint at DA offices throughout the state, alleging voter fraud, if married couples living in the state weren't married here?

Come on, you guys have to at least be consistent with your stupid logic ;-)

How soon some forget.
ACORN was active in Southeastern WI. for years. Nobody was watchinga s they signed up lots of non-existent voters.
Supplied with a name and an address, anyone could use that to vote, and it is virtually impossible to prove fraud.
And we can't forget how more votes showed up in some of the past elections than people registered to vote. How does that happen?

Robin Vos is right............

Poor Heather Rayne Geyer... She is so wrapped up in her liberal ideology that she couldn't see the truth if it smacked her in the face. Hoffa nailed this! It's actually embarrassing to women that Heather is so naive when it comes to politics. It appears that she is spending way to much time watching Schultz & Maddow!

This is how DUMB Retrum's logic is on this:

In Retrum's world, if you go to Vegas to get married, or were married out of state, because you sign the marriage license declaring legal residency in the state of marriage, that means that you're forever bared to vote again in your state of legal domicile without facing charges of voter fraud. So why isn't Retrum going after every Wisconsinite that got married out of state, alleging voter fraud???

Retrum is nothing but a blue fist nut job looking for attention that just looks foolish by not having a legal leg to stand on! Maybe she should try getting a life and a job!

As Hoffa stated before, the DA will not investigate such frivolous claims.

HRG should be embarrassed for running with this non-story without having looked into it more before 'publishing' it! Hoffa honestly thought that HRG had better standards than this.

I don''t see how this can be an endorsement for Albrecht, when all it does is complain about Vos. An endorsement needs to state reasons for supporting the candidate, not a rehash of [false] accusations against the incumbent. Heather, you are usually much more direct in your endorsements of the left's candidates, but I do not see that here.

I actually agree to a certain extent. There was too much I was trying to write about all in one piece and kind of ran out of room. I could have done better at highlighting Kelley's attributes and should have made that an entirely separate article. Write and learn I suppose. I will try harder next time.

Also I did not ever say that Mrs. Vos WAS guilty of voter fraud. I was more pointing out the irony of the situation and the fact that the right would be all over this if the ballot was on the other foot.

I have been attempting to keep a promise to myself and not respond to comments on my articles. It is just healthier for me that way. Sometimes I feel compelled despite that promise. This has been one of those times. So please do not think I am ever ignoring any one particular commenter or question. It just best for me not to get into the back and forth when I can see it getting ugly.

Take care all and thanks for reading!!

Hoffa - you are so hopelessly misinformed, it'd be funny if I wasn't reasonably sure you still have the right to vote (you aren't a felon, are you?). Yes, most redistricting ends up in court... because there is no consensus, not because it was UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
Next - For you to say "the DA's office has taken no action" on the criminal is a stupid thing to say... unless you ARE the DA, have inside knowledge, and are sabotaging the complaint. The DA and police have an obligation to investigate ALL criminal complaints and come up with one of several findings (unfounded, sustained, inconclusive, or frivolous). To not do so would be a breach of duty, there has been no decision made, so..... Vos IS being investigated.
Next - Nevada State law does NOT require people to be residents to be married there and Wisconsin DOES recognize Nevada's marriage law based on the full faith and credit clause of the Constitution (look it up before you spout off).
And since you seem to be so intent on using "blue fisted nutjob" all the time, I've start affectionately calling you part of the "red-bottomed sheeple herd". OK?

@Watching the stupidity -

Hopelessly misinformed - Hoffa thinks not.

You may actually want to look in the mirror.

No, Hoffa is not a felon.

1 district having to be redrawn to suit a racial quota - that's not saying very much! And the original point had to do with the expenses involved of going to court - whether it's because of impasse or challenged constitutionality, it costs the same, so what's your point in regards to the original context? Hoffa realize that you libs love to shift the subject or take things out of context, but Alinsky doesn't work on Hoffa. You'll have to do better than that!

Depends upon how one defines the word 'investigation.' Hoffa used to work in the Racine County DA's office under Bob Flancher, but not anymore and not for a while. However, Hoffa knows the current DA, Rich Chiapete very well, and Hoffa can tell you that at the most, Rich will just confirm everything that Samantha Vos' attorney stated in the letter - if it's all true, then there's no case and the complaint goes into the circular file, where it belongs!

As far as Nevada marriage law is concerned, you are correct - there is no residency requirement, however other states do have a residency requirement, and Hoffa's analogy would apply to such situations. The point is what's important here - not the specifics! Hoffa was merely attempting to explain the legal concept of domicile vs residency - ya dig?

Call Hoffa whatever you like - it's not going to hurt his feelings!
