Who knew little Dylan Hoffman's Google doodle would garner so much support, and quite a bit of attention.
But he earned it, according to a story in the Journal Times.
The seven-year-old Caledonia boy took out his markers and drew a pirate-themed Google logo that has earned him a spot among 50 finalists in their Doodle 4 Google competition.
So what did Dylan and his mom, Katherin
“I fainted,” Dylan said. His mom, Katharina Hoffman, quickly clarified — he didn’t faint, but he was almost falling down from excitement.
“He was kind of shocked a little bit, it’s just quite a bit for a little boy,” said Katherina Hoffman, 37, a project manager.
His drawing is titled "Pirate Times," and his description said:
If I could travel in time, I'd visit Pirate Times. I would like to sail a pirate ship looking for treasure, have a colorful pet parrot and enjoy beautiful sunsets from deserted islands.
Out of the 114,000 students, Google employees along with Katy Perry, Jordin Sparks, and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh, the creator of "Phineas and Ferb" chose 50 state winners.
And he won.
Now Dylan will receive $30,000 for college and $50,000 for his school. He'll also have the drawing displayed in the Milwaukee Art Museum and the New York Public Library; his drawing will be on the Google homepage on May 18 and be posted on a special edition of Crayola's 64-box.

Got to meet this very fine young man (and his mom) at the announcement event and unveiling of his drawing at Prairie. i was hired to do the balloons around the displayed enlarged drawing for the Google people. Dylan is quite an impressive little man and a credit to the staff at Prairie school.

Good for you Dylan. You did well despite Walker's gutting of this state's schools.
