Afternoon Collision with Traffic Light Sends 1 to the Hospital
South Shore Fire and officers from Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant responded Saturday afternoon to an accident that sent one person to the hospital.
The return of accumulating snow Saturday caused a fair share of accidents, including one in Sturtevant that sent one person to the hospital.
At approximately 3:15 p.m., a car traveling south on 90th Street was turning left onto Durand Avenue when it was struck by a pick-up truck going north through the intersection.
The force of the collision sent the car into a traffic light, knocking it on top of the car.
A female passenger of the car was transported by South Shore Fire personnel to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic on 90th Street was shut down in both directions between Corliss and Durand Avenues for about an hour. Officials re-opened the road by 4:30 p.m.
