The Fourth of July can be a great day for gardening, making sure plants are healthy by mixing compost with soil.

A good place to get compost is the Mount Pleasant compost site just north of Highway 20, across the street from the Renaissance Business Park.

Unfortunately, this year, getting more compost is going to have to wait until after Independence Day.
